Fractional Dimensioning

We occasionally run into a problem with how SW puts fractional dimensions on a print. If the dimension is one inch plus 1/16", it comes out on the print as 1 1/16". It is pretty easy for the shop folks to read this as 11/16". I'd much prefer that it show on the print as 1-1/16", which is pretty clear.

Is there any way to change how these dimensions are written? I don't see anything in any of the options pages.

Not sure, I will have to look later.
It is the reason why I always use decimals.

After encountering your problem, we changed the font from Century Gothic to Arial which made reading 1 1/16" easier.

1-1/16" may be clear for you, for others could mean 1 minus 1/16 which is 15/16".

You could set up your dual dimension display (Tools->Options->Document Properties->Units) to be decimal inches. Any dim that has potential to cause confusion you can display as dual dimension.

sbmathias, there's nothing you can do about this. This has been an issue as long as I can remember. The best solution if you can't switch to decimals is to switch your font to Arial. It's the best font (trust me, I've tried them all), but it's still not great.

I have been submitting enhancement requests along with most of my co-workers for four years now to enable stacked dimensions or adding the dash as you suggested. But it's been to no avail. More enhancement requests on this subject will help.

And I understand that not everyone can use decimals. Our shop uses a tape measure to lay out everything, and they've been doing so for close to 200 years. I've gotten a lot of heat every time I've make even very minor changes to our drawing formats.
