Rod...i never tested it ...i saw a TV real late one night
about it .
You know anyone who has tested it ?? on a dyno ?? or chassis dyno ?? any realiable results .
maybe related info-> i have an 8 gallon gas tank on my lawnmower ...and everytime you go to fill it up with a funnel... you either try to pour the gas perfectly straight into the hole ..or to the side of the funnel
for swirl action..if you pour wrong..the gas in the funnel just bunches up ..effectively blocking flow .
so you can place a small tube on the side of the funnel
going into the gas tank ..and then you can pour a bunch faster....or you can shape the bottom of the funnel's spout like a STAR ..so there are air leaks on the gaps..then you can pour a bunch more gas !!
Where am i going with this ??--> it gave me the idea to create a Vortex Generator in the intake bowl
to increase the Flow Coefficient ...it worked by approx.
3.00 % percent more flow at 28.0 inches...
but didn't show the HP gains the flow gain suggested
..the heads with or without the vortex generator made basically the same power !
Interesting to see real honest dyno tests ??

Jan 5 and 6th on a 355 cid and on a 496 cid BBC
if you really want to try it ...i'll try it and post dyno results !!

Happy New Year, and boy does my head hurt. I can think of only two real benefits (1) improve fuel atomisation, but I doubt a bit of swirl prior to the carb is going to be a big effect
and
(2)scouring of the intake walls, to get the liquid that pools there (Have you ever seen those perspex intake manifolds? Interesting (and depressing)). I started at Rover just as we were getting rid of carbs, so never had to deal with that sort of thing.
SO I'd guess that on a carburetted engine you might see some real life improvements in transient conditions (especially cold starting and WOT accels), rather less at steady state.
On the other hand, increasing air speeds implies higher velocities, which implies more drag, so you'd expect reduced volumetric efficiency.
So on an MPI engine I'd expect a net degradation under almost all conditions (scouring not being an issue), on a single point or carbied engine then you might see some positives.
If you've got a very simple carby and put tis ahead of the carb then it would also tend to run slightly rich- not a good thing!
And I'd have to say, 70 bucks for a bit of bent tin is a bit steep! Cheers

Same to you , Larry. Got the pictures of your shop, looks good. certainly better than by shop (barn).
Liked the looks of your porting and vx generators. Too bad I could have used that on my Lotus twincam heads, but instead, I undercut the seat area to create a choke (venturi) effect. Flow went up with nailhead and stayed about the same with tulips. Like the pouring oil in the funnel example you used, the vx gen might have been the hot setup.

stroker, I'm not endorsing this gizmo, just attempting to put it on a known dyno operated by an independant operator to see if it meets their claims. If they are at all confident of their product , they will come thru. We shall see.
I tried one of those carb propeller thingys on a flathead Ford gas car back in 1958 of so. Didn't work!
Always wanted one of those 100mpg carbs and some of that additive that allowed you to use water instead of gasoline!!!
Its like magic or slight of hand---look deep enough and you will discover how they do it.
Caveat emptor!
