Folding wheelchair to standing wheelchair joints.

Hi,
I am trying to convert a regular folding wheelchair (shown below) to a standing wheelchair. One problem is that at the location where I believe a joint is meant to be (to allow it to stand) is instead welded. I am unsure of the best way to place a joint there, or if making a regular wheelchair into a standing one is feasible, so any guidance is appreciated.

I would say "NOT." You essentially have to gut the existing wheelchair and rebuild it. For that matter, using a folding wheelchair seems to make no sense to me, since the folds are in the wrong axis.
