Flushing Velocities 1

Has anyone out there seen an API standard (or other std.) that specifies what velocities are required in pipe for fluid and steam flow adequate to loosen all scale and foreign materials?

ASME NQA-1-2000, AWWA C651, ASTM A380 and ASTM STP 491,would be referred.

There is an article in the July 1988 copy of Hydrocarbon Processing by J.C. Junique entitled "Flush or Blow Lines Adequately." The article describes how to calculate velocities required to produce a high enough drag force to remove all materials that could be disturbed during operations. I have seen excerpts of this article, and I've got my librarian trying to track down the full version. If you can get your hands on that article, it should answer your questions...
