Sompe production profile I have seen, say:
oil flow rate: 100,000 bopd
water flow rate: 50,000 bopd
Total fluid flow rate: 140,000 bopd

Why the total fluid flow rate is less than the sum of oil and water? Water injection is excluded here. Thanks.

I have seen this described as:
oil flow rate: 100,000 bopd MAX
water flow rate: 50,000 bopd MAX
Total fluid flow rate: 140,000 bopd

As the water cut increases, oil production tends to decrease. However, at no time would the combined flow exceed 140,000 bpd.

The explantion given by Mike is most likely true - on the other hand: Why dont you just aproach those who wrote the design basis and ask? Are you supposed to guess everything? On occation everybody makes mistakes - but when you guess that frequency will increase.
