Florida PE Education Requirements

I have a B.S. in Civil Engineering Technology from Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston, MA. The program is ABET accredited.

Now, my understanding is that the State of Florida does not allow any Technology degrees for sitting for the PE exam or for endorsement. Is this true? Or can I take the PE in Florida?

Is there anyone out there that has a Technology degree that has their Florida license?

I'm fairly sure you're correct....no PE exam for technology graduates.

While your program might be ABET accredited, it is not an engineering program and doesn't meet the requirements of Florida and many other state boards.

But it looks like you are out of luck in Florida. You may check into getting a license in another state and then getting your Florida license by comity.

zcp....even if another state will license him, Florida won't approve comity...you still have to prove that the state of licensing's requirements meet or exceed those of Florida....in this case they would not.

GDriscoll....it sounds like you got some bad academic advice along the way. If your intent was to become a licensed Professional Engineer, you should have gone to engineering school, not a technology program. There is a difference.

One of the Dakotas has a Masters program that is ABET approved and accepted in most states for the PE. Note that most Masters programs are not acceptable as a substitute for a non-ABET approved engineering undergrad.
