I am designing a building for a new hardware store that will be two levels. On the main level they will have storage racks, (they want to reuse the one they have-no ratings). I am determining different cases on how the floor will be loaded. Pallets of concrete on floor -250 psf, nails - 210 psf and then rack loading- 9000 # per post based on what they have now. I am also looking at the wheel loads for their lift trucks. Of course, the entire floor will not be loaded.
What have other people used for a floor loading? Using a uniform loading of 250 psf everywhere seems excessive.
