Various optimists are proposing floating offshore wind turbines. They obviously get around the NIMBY problem of inshore wind turbines, and should have better access to wind. The discussion of the mooring cables ploughing up big areas of the seabed is good. Anyway lots of numbers and pretty pictures, it's a great science project proposal. It doesn't sound like an implemetation ready solution. Just a reminder, 3 of these turbines would produce more energy than the current global fleet of floating offshore wind even it it was working which most of it isn't at the moment, it is being fixed back at port.
