Hi i am having trouble modelling a flat slab with opeings in it. when i create a series of poly areas and merge them together i cant seem to merge the object even though they clearly have a common face. i get the error "no areas no merge". Does anyone know how i can fix this or other ways of modelling it.

My spans a8,8.5,9,8.5,8 in the x and 8.34,8.34,8.34,8.34 in the y direction.

Dear mralhasani,
when you use the merge command you are "joining" 2 or more shell elements (with the loss of precision that this implies). You can draw a single shell element with the real slab dimensions, and then make a division (in the same tool box as the merge command) in order to get a refined mesh. Then you can erase the elements that represent the opening. Best regards,

Sebastian
