We use family tables often to quickly make variousparts with just a few features differnt between them for example various lengths or hole patterns on a trim part. Every instance requires a flat for creating the DXF file.

Perfered method: We currently structure 1-generic 2-instance 3-instance_flat; the flat is in a family table under the instance

Other method: 1-generic 2-instance 2-instance_flat; the flats and instances are on the same level under the generic

Any feedback on this issue would be great since soon i will be bringing part files from other companies and saving them in our system, do i spend time changing their parts or leave it alone?

I have always found multi level family tables to be very difficult to work with and avoid them like the plague.
