flare gas knock out drum

Hi,

I am intersted in reading about smokeless flare design, operation and problem. the valve located directly upstream the flare gas knock out drum which type it should be?. Also, what are the common problems that steam assisted flare has?

If you're really interested, John Zinc used to have a one week class on Flare System design which was quite good and covered all the bases. They may have a variety of technical data and papers on their website but I'm not sure. Check out API 537 "Flare Details for General Refinery and Petrochemical Service" as it will have a lot of good reading as well.
