First question here, I am looking for the Imperial equation of Allowable External moments for ASME B16.5 flanges. I have the Msf= 21437.5((Sy/246960))CAb Where ((Sy/246960))<=1

Im having trouble going to imperial units

The source that I got this information from was from Pipe Stress Analysis for WEL facilities. The title of the document is:

Appendix A

Allowable External Moments for ASME B16.5 Flanges.

In a paragraph it says the equation was taken from ASME III Div 1 NC-3658.3 but I can't seem to find it in any of my files. So I am thinking we don't have it on record.

OK. If you want to use it, I suggest to get a hold of ASME III-1 sect NC. Otherwise you're e.g. driving a Russian highway and dont know the traffic rules.

There are certain limitations to ASME III-1 NC-3658.3. Buy PVP2013-97814 if you really want to be up2date with the latest aspects on external load consideration, and want to know the limitations of each method .

And Sect III being Nuclear Code, your work will be examined several times, by several auditors. You *have* to have all the reference material, starting with the Code Book.

Duwe made a good point. Furthermore i believe sect III is nog for creep, hence there are limitations to the rquation.
