Hi John,

I have just downloaded and installed NX9. It works well on a PC without any previous NX version but I encountered the following problem on my laptop with NX5, NX6, NX7.5, NX8 and NX8.5 when creating a new part

An attempt was made to set a constrained attribute to a value outside its limits (580048)

Failed to load and update part "C:\softs\ugnx9\ugii\templates\model-plain-1-mm-template.prt"

Thanks in advance

Regards
Didier Psaltopoulos

I looked on gtac and could not find the what is new/fixed in this release. Is this availble yet? Or does anyone have this information they could share? Thanks

If you have a 'MACH 3 Industrial Design' license.

While we've gotten the software out a few days early, it appears that the 'paperwork' isn't quite finished ;-) I'm sure that that 'Release Letter' will be available shortly.

John, not to annoy you
nx 9.013 still have dimensioning issues, the mini editor is not working with keybord inputs only the texteditor works for text before/after dimension
even inherit doesn't work to another dimension.
Btw, the hotspot click event is very annoying- the shortcuts, taken from the relaese note ctrl+ keybord cursor button only in the mini editor
nominal place input from the num bock still doesn't work as in previous versions, shortcut keybord button S doesn't start the dimension style dialog, the spline.
inherit with I or direct jumping into the editor with E while dimensioning.
Please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please give us back the pre nx9 dimensioning workflow.
So many clicks, event waiting - I don't want to play just do rapid dimensioning work.

If you were expecting a redesign of dialogs and menus or even a change in a functions behavior, maintenance releases are NOT the place to be looking for them. Only if a serious error was discovered do we change what a function does during a maintenance release, and since your comments are about your 'disappointment' with the way a function was designed to work, you really need to open either PR's (if development will accept them for changes in design or behavior) or more likely ER's, which will be considered for future releases of NX. Unless you can demonstrate an actual LOSS of the ability to do some task or operation, or that something is documented to work one way but actually works in a different manner, then your comments can only be taken as suggestions, i.e. ER's, for when we either tweak the functionality of a dialog or we make major changes based on a new approach or concept, which is only done when we release a NEW version of NX.

That being said, since the changes made to the Drafting functions have come only after a long and detailed review of competitive systems, ideas proposed by our own people, ideas that we've collected over the years from customers in the form of mostly ER's and some PR's which were not classified as actual 'bugs' but merely clumsy functionality, feedback during BETA, etc., until we have a chance to get more specific feedback from a broader segment of our user base, we'll just have to wait to see how this evolves. But as I said up-front, don't expect wholesale changes, unless it's a true dialog replacement of something old or adding something totally new, in a maintenance release. That's just not how things are done.

hey John,
I agree to get better, redesign of dialogs and workflows - and there's still a lot to do
a little comparison: nx8.5 /nx9
Place a dimension in drafting, while placing hit the keyboard cursor left for example my hands are on the keyboard type in the text, put the dimension in place. Next dimension
My company standard has 2 nominal places, in this case I want to cut the nominal place and hit on the keyboard the 0 (null), even the RMB context give me this option
in nx9.01 finding your way around:
place a dimension, locks in a grid very nice improvement, let the clickery begin, place the dimension LMB wait / event pre edit mini toolbar click LMB on the hot spot close to the dimension text (screen gets full of contexts ) the mini editor display, place the cursor in the text field (LMB) switch to keyboard type some inputs, or control the nominal places. The SW guy will like it...
More traditional second way nx is to use the RMB context, but in nx 9 nominal places, additional text, inherit reset was removed from the context
btw. I'm frustrated doing call on this. I reported this regression in the early betas last year in April, attached the nx 8.5 documentation for dimensioning key accelerators, was closed in Septembers as can't dublicate.
There are a lot of nice really nice enhancements in nx 9, for drafting 2d documentation users don't like must be high productive.

Blend Corner should also be available in NX9.0.1

Yes, that's true, the 'Blend Corner' function has been enabled in NX 9.0.1.

For a short demo of how this function can be used to 'clean-up' a situation where 4 different blends come together at a corner, replacing the multiple transition patches with a single smooth face, please see the attached video.
