Hi John,

I have just downloaded and installed NX9. It works well on a PC without any previous NX version but I encountered the following problem on my laptop with NX5, NX6, NX7.5, NX8 and NX8.5 when creating a new part

An attempt was made to set a constrained attribute to a value outside its limits (580048)

Failed to load and update part "C:\softs\ugnx9\ugii\templates\model-plain-1-mm-template.prt"

Thanks in advance

I found the solution by deleting the folder C:\Users\Didier\AppData\Local\Siemens\NX90 created during the beta test

I never encountered this problem and the message was not clear

Dear Didier,...
You wrote the first post on this 05.02 ( plus-minus an hour in time difference)
- You have been sitting up all night waiting for the download to become available. ! ?
- And then installed it before 05.00 !
True Spirit ! ( and maybe insanity :-)

Regards,
Tomas

Didier, my post was meant as a friendly joke.
My mistake. i now see that the times noted in the posts are non-local..
( It's 12.40 in Sweden also.)

Btw, I see in your post that you have had the beta installed. ( i have the beta still installed.)
I assume that you uninstalled the beta before installing the customer release.
But, did you re-install the FlexLm also ?

Regards,
Tomas

Hi Tomas,

No pb, I have understood the joke.

I have uninstalled the beta but not the flexlm

Should we understand that NX9 has been released?

Hi Tomas

I have a NX MACH2 Prod Design and the Subd Modeling is not available even with the variable. And You ?

Regards
Didier Psaltopoulos

Yes, the problem that DidierPSICAD encountered will only be seen by people who had installed one or more of the early beta test versions of the software (I got hit by it myself a few weeks ago). And doing an uninstall of NX 9.0 will NOT remove the problem. The solution was as Didier stated, he had to remove the local NX90 folder which is created automatically the first time you launch a new version of NX, but which is not removed when you uninstall NX. So for all of you non-beta testers, this will NEVER be an issue, period!

I looked yesterday for the sub divisional modeling stuff but cannot find it, I assume that it is delayed to a later release. ( the release notes mentions the "sub d" but i think the What's new guide don't.)
I also played around with the new "rapid dimension" in Drafting.
- I don't understand what's "rapid" compared to the previous. ?
The thing i did notice is that when this new dialog is on screen, you cannot move or edit an existing dimension. ( non-rapid compared to before.)

Tomas

Hi Tomas,

Have a look at the image to find it in the surface tab

Did you set the variable ?

Regards
Didier Psaltopoulos

I'm not aware about the variable, the beta i ran did not need the variable, or it was already set in some file in the install.
I run a "distributor bundle" due to my partnership w Siemens.

Regards, Tomas

Toost,

In regards to the "Rapid" dimensioning, I think it's just a name change from Inferred. Other dims seems to have been grouped, but basically still reside under the new groupings.

Officially 'Realize Shape' (the final name for the what's been previously referred to as Subdivision Modeling) is an NX 9.0.1 product and always has been. Granted, we've been demoing it and beta testers have been evaluating it and providing us feedback, but it will not part of the production package until the first maintenance release planned for right after the first of the year. Note that there will be at least one other significant modeling enhancement included in NX 9.0.1 which we have NOT been able to yet demo or beta test so, and again, this was always part of the original plan when we defined what projects were going into NX 9.0.0 versus the NX 9.0.x releases.

Ok John, It's clear now. I thought it was possible to continue the test for SubDiv until 9.0.1

Just an FYI; NX 9.0.1 is now available for download from the GTAC support site.

Yes, we're ttechnically a few days ahead of schedule. And now it's on to whatever's next, as I just the got notice that the first installable pre-beta phase of NX 10.0 is ready for me to download and start testing (pretty good timing if you ask me).
