Hello,
I am trying to conduct an analysis about burning test of timber columns and beams for the buildings in fire.
My problem is as follows:
Timber changes its material properties(thermal conductivities, specific gravity, etc), after about
300 degree celcius, as it changes itself into charcoal.
So I would like to change material attributes from
MAT1(Timber) to MAT2(Charcoal), if an element reaches
300 degree.
I tried once with MPCHG command in the solution phase,
It was not successful,
then with the same command I went back to prep7, changing material attributes then again to solution phase, continued time stepping, but all in vain, as it wouldn't generate any MAT2(charcoal) area.
I would like to keep having 2 materials, because after the fire stops, there would exist both timber area & charcoal area under the 300 degree.
I am quite beginner about Ansys software.
Would someone help me solving this problem?
Thank you,
Coj
