Hi all,
on my project the specs call for all doors to be certified 2hr fire rated. on one of the substations the doors are 5meter by 3.5 meter. the contractor tells me that these doors are oversized and can not be certified as the code only certifies doors up to 3m by 3m , is this correct? and if so how can i certify my doors and ensure the safety of the people?

16 feet by 11 feet

You do not say what type of door this is

swinging, overhead, sliding?????

what type of opening is this protecting office area, office to warehouse, ???????????

Normally if a door is not already certified hard to get it certified in the field

woould first go back to door maker and ask if it is certified

YES larger doors are ceritified

depending on looks can you add a rated overhead door??? to close over this door???

8 by 9?

Tectonite is certified (UBC 7-2, 90 min.) as a component for fire-rated doors in all
openings up to and including 8-foot by 9-foot pairs with all applicable hardware.

hey cdafd,
thanks for your reply, to answer your questions:

1. doors are Swinging

2. the doors are for HVAC and Switchgear Rooms for an Electrical Substation

3.Manufacturer says he has the certification but only for doors less than 3m x 3m

the doors on my project are 5m x 3.5m about 16.6ft x 11.6 ft and the manufacturer says that this size can not be certified
