What do you mean by finite element method for bridges? Do you want to do FE modelling for design purpose? Or for assessment?
Refer to "chap 8 of bridge engineering handbook", "Caltrans bridge design practice chapter 4" and "Guidelines for Nonlinear Analysis of Bridge Structures In California"
