The demo version of nastran for windows has a 300 node limit, which can exercise your ingenuity. Its pre and post processor is very good.
Lisa has a 1300 node limit in the free version.
UNA is a solver only, has a 20000 node limit, and is free for educational use.
If you actually want to do serious work at home then NE Nastran is reputedly pretty good 4000-18000 bucks depending on what options you need.
