Filtering Vibration Data 1

I have some vibration data taken in the field (all raw numbers) where I am convinced that some of the amplitudes I am seeing is caused by 2 different machines. With the data I have, is there some way to filter out the frequencies I want? Or is that something that would have to be done internally with a measuring device?

Filtering is not something I deal with often (or know that much about). Any help is appreciated.

I think what you are looking for is a Fourier transform, which will give you the frequencies and amplitudes thereof.

Thanks IRstuff. I tried FT one time and I wound up with (what appeared to be) a composite of several frequencies. (I.e. I didn't isolate the frequencies I wanted.) I likely did something wrong. Will try again.

I haven't used it but it appears you can do the Fourier transform pretty easily in Excel - see here. Saves a lot of pain in setting up the calculations yourself.
