filter struggle

Please help, I am currently installing some VFDs.My problems is I am fitting filters and line chokes to these drives. My collegue wants to fit the choke on the supply side and the filters on the output side but I disagree and think it should be the opposite way around. Could anyone please settle this argument

///The choke (reactor) can be on the input side or on the output side or on both sides; it depends.
There are various filters. Some of them are designed for the input side, e.g. passive harmonic filters, active harmonic filters, hybrid harmonic filters, matrix harmonic filters, etc. Others are meant to be on the output side, e.g. RF filters, dv/dt filters, "sine" filters, etc. The VFD manufacturer tech support should provide the right solution to your applications.\\\

As the name implies, line chokes (or reactors) are installed on the supply (line) side of the drive. They are used to limit the effects of voltage (current) transients and also to minimize harmonic distortion of the incoming line. In most modern drives in larger horsepower ratings (above say 5HP - depends on mfg.) a DC link reactor is already present and, depending on the application, it is unnecessary to fit a line reactor.

I agree with jbartos - filters is a generic term. What kind of "filter" are you installing?
