I worked on a workbook with some number and cell formats then erased all that info. now my workbook has only about 2 8.5x11 sheets worth of info in it but the size of the file is on the order of 650kb. when I copy and paste the same info to a new file the size reduces considerablly down to about 100kb. I have a feeling that it is due to activities that are no longer there but somehow still have a say in the file size.
What can I do to solve the problem other than coping and pasting in a new workbook every time. or, is that the only way.
any input is much appreciated

FM1,

this matter has been discussed in a previous thread within this forum.

the technique you described is identical to what i do when developing/working on large spreadsheets. actually, i copy and paste only the formulas without formatting. the causes to file size are not known by me. i consider the technique worthwhile and not that time-consuming.

not much help as to the causes to file size, but the technique does minimize file size.
