Hi,
We have 4 Cisco 2960-s switches and each switch has fibre cables in ports 49 and 52. My question is would this be for redundancy so if one fibre is broken there will still be a connection ?

Thanks

Could be. It all depends on how they are connected and how the switches are configured. They might be using Cisco's FlexStack protocol or spanning tree protocol.
