I am working on a 2 axis fiber winding machine control system. Axis 1 is rotating mandrel, Axis 2 is a traversing carriage up and down the mandrel.
I tried to use a PLC/HMI controlling the 2 servos. The PLC did not have enough motion capability to move properly. I have added a Galil 2 axis controller to the control system.
The hoop winding program works well. I am working on the helical wind program. I have configured an Electronic Cam. It does move well through the CAM profile. I am working on getting it to index for the next layer of wrap on the mandrel.
I am looking for anyone who has Winder programming experience and/or Galil controller experience.
