I'm currently enrolled in a finite element analysis course, and I'm struggling with a project using FEMAP. I've created a simple cylinder, and applied fixed constraints at one end and a load at the other.

After analyzing the model using NASTRAN and viewing the results in FEMAP, the model shows zero deformation and zero stress. Does anybody know what could be wrong? I'm certain that the loads I've applied would create some kind of displacement. The constraints are applied properly. Does anybody have suggestions on how to begin trouble shooting this problem?

You need to look at the error messages. .f06 and .f04 files are usually informative.

did you assign a material?

as greg says set print destination to "print and post-process" to see the .f06 file ... it'll contain more error messages to help you.

remember all the steps ... geometry, mesh, create elements (this should ask for material properties and element properties), load, constraints, analyze ...

Dear James,
Upload your FEMAP model here to take a look to it, the reasons to get zero stress/displacements could be multiple.
Best regards,
Blas.
