Femap Express doesn't appear to report any modal frequencies. ... or is there a way to obtain the modal frequency infomtaion from a model.

Wicsteve,

WHen you start Femap Express, you need to change the analysis from stress to modal in the drop down window.

Thanks, but I think I'm past that part. When the modal analysis is completed, there is a frequency dropdown box that is suppose to show the individual modal frequencies. However, I see numbers like 0.001MHz, 0.002MHz, 0.002MHz, 0.003MHz or else I see O.000 MHz for all modes. As I see it, the program is predicting modal shapes but not useful modal frequency information. So the question is ... Is the program capable of reporting modal frequencies? ... and if so can I adjust the frequency range to show kilohertz instead of MHz.

Hi,

when in part/psm go to File --> File Properties
there Units --> Advanced Units and set the Frequency
from the Pulldown to an appropriate unit (V18)

Thanks donyoung

I didn't expect to look at the file properties to change the frequency units for the modal analysis but it did exactly what you said it would. Thanks again.
