Dear All,

Is it possible to simulate the effects of shot peening using FEA methods.

Would applied uniform displacement to the surface be a suitable method?

Or is custom non linear material data like kinematic strain hardening required?

Thanks

morris9791,

but wouldn't the impact force be highly dependent on the actual distance from the blastgun to the surface?

Furthermore, how to destilate the force from the actual blast stream? What is being blasted? What material/shape/quantity? Or are you planning to measure the actual indentation on the surface?

My knowledge on this is very limited. Im guessing that some information could be obtained from the manufacturer.

Clearly its a lot more complex than I imagined then!
