I am currently looking for suggestions regarding candidate materials to run in edge-gated Injection Mold for prottyping of a "snap" lid for plastic containers (approximately 3.5" diameter)... looking for solutions to investigate which have the following qualities: FDA Approved for Food Contact, Dishwasher Safe (Heat Resistant), Freezer Safe (Cold Temp Resistant), Translucent, Soft To Touch, Abrasion Resistent, Tear Resistant ... currently considering BASF Elastollan 1180A50 (Polyether) ... I would appreciate any and all candidate solutions ( sites as well) for investigation ... thank you in advnace!

I guess Co-Polyesters like Hytrel or Arnitel are to expensive, and some grades are very susceptable to hydrolysis, but some are OK to it.
If price is not a problem, PEBAX might also be worth a try.
From memory, I think Polyethers are quite susceptable to hydrolysis. If you look at data on hydrolysis, it will most probably be done with distilled water. You might want to test with a range of dishwashing detergents and food residues to get a real idea. Regards
