I'm looking to subscribe to a periodical where I can get the scoops on what is going on the civil engineering industry. I'm looking for real solid info, not just what appears to be paid advertisements. Any suggestions?

Join ASCE and you will get a good magazine. Also, Engineering News Record is the best way to keep up on construction.

I would suggest it depends on your location, scoops in the US may not be of much interest to those outside your location.

In the UK they main ones are the New Civil Engineer, sort of like a news magazine, and the ICE Journals, which are more paper based.

There are plenty of others.
