fault current and power electronics

Hi there,

I have just read that in microgrids, due to the power electronics, the fault current while operating in islanded mode are relatively small.

I don't know, and I can not find why these power electronics are affecting the fault current. My only idea is related with the limiting current variation of the diodes, but as I said I haven't found anything.

Any help will be appreciated.

What ever source there is for the island is behind the power electronics and the power electronics only produce so much current under any condition. Fault happens, current doesn't go up much; voltage can go down a lot. Fault clearing that depends on high fault currents can miss things.
