Dear Members,

I am working on fatigue assessment according to ASME Section VIII Division 2 5.5.4, for Stainless Steel Type 316.

During development of the material model, I realized that in Annex 3-D Table 3-D.2/2M does not provide the nCSS and KCSS for Type 316 material.

Does anyone have information how to obtain both parameters for SS316?

I ran into the same issue before. Ended up using values from literature and some references to ASME Section II Part D. You might need to check papers on cyclic stress-strain behavior for SS316, or reach out to material suppliers—they sometimes have that data.

May I direct you to API/ASME 579-1, Para 2E.4- Cyclic Stress-Strain Relationships?

Hi, thank you for your information. Can you please share the reference?

Hi, thank you for the reference. I can find the formula to calculate the Kcss and ncss, in the Para 2E.4.2.1.
Do you think we can use that formula for fatigue assessment according to ASME VIII D2?

you may try "ASME STP-PT-081-2017 Cyclic Stress-Strain Curves".
