We usually use Al coated Ti or stainless fasteners when joining carbon to aluminum; they are always wet assembled with plenty of gunk (we usually put a layer of glass cloth between the carbon and the aluminum part, too). The coating is subject to attack if an electrical connection is made between the carbon and the coating, but it helps to avoid attack on the aluminum part, mostly from the fastener base material. For a major joint between carbon and aluminum we bush the fasteners in the Al.
Because the coating is subject to attack it should be avoided when joining carbon to non-aluminum parts. For carbon-carbon, carbon-Ti and carbon-st. st. (and st. st.-Ti, Ti-Ti, etc.) we usually use Ti, A-286 st. st. or Inco 718 fasteners bare.
