Hi all,
We recently upgraded to SW2009 from 2007. Recently I have been unable to save an assembly (failed to save error message). In 2007, I downloaded a macro which rebuilt all configurations when I got this message, then was able to save. This does not seem to work in 2009. I can save parts however, apparently.
Any ideas?

Are you saving locally or across a network, the latter can cause this error.

It's also worth checking the "References" button in the "Open" dialog box before you load the assembly, make sure it's not pulling a part off another computer that may be running when you load but switched off later when you try and save

Also, if you've got multi-users, someone else may have already got a part open, so you get a read-only copy and the dreaded error message when you save!

Which SP of SW09 are you using?

SP4 fixed a problem in SP3 which caused the Failed to Save error when creating chamfers. If you can't update to SP4, a hot fix for SP3 can be downloaded from the Knowledge Base in the SolidWorks Customer Portal; search for S-037246, then click on Solution S-037246.

If you have Configurations switch to another one and rebuild and try your save again.

If you use Configure Features there is a rebuild all configs option but going 1 by 1 may be more stable.

Hi all,
It appears my failed to save issues were caused from a part in which I created chamfers in, from the assembly where the part lives. I ended up deleting the part and was able to save. We are in sp3 currently.
Thanks to all
