factored loads vs non factored loads

Engineers,

I am involved in a project in which the scope is to confirm if an specific section of a drilled shaft with a depth D is safe to be used for a project.

Client provided the the unfactored loads for both tension and compression. Naturally, these loads are coming from the structural engineer.

As a geotechnical engineer I will compute both ultimate and allowable loads for the pile section and the design depth. However, I don't think I can't compare Pult and Pall vs the unfactored loads provided by the client.

It is my understanding I need to request to the client the factored loads so i can compare with the geotechnical load estimates.

Please let me know your thoughts.

I'm sorry, why would you not be able to compare Pall to the unfactored loads provided by the client?

Either you need to factor the loads and factor the pile resistance and see if it works (LRFD) or calculate the allowable load on the pile that can be handled with the appropriate factors of safety and check if it is greater than or equal to the unfactored loads (ASD).
