Hello folks!

Does anyone here have DER authiority, supported by FAA or JAA? I wish to apply for DER authority (mainly for component repair and engine overhaul), but I don´t know how to start. The only thing I know is that the applicant have to prove knowledge on FAR 145 & 33 regulations, experience in airmotive field (manufacturing or MR&O)... but what else?? And what is the first step?

Thanks for the attention and best regards for all!

Go to the FAA website, and work your way through its pages/selections. There are "Advisory Circulars" and "Orders" documents that describe the DER process. The biggest thing as to being approved is that some FAA office will need to have had experience working with you in the area that you wish to be approved/delegated.

The FAA provides a list of all current DER's, categorized by their field. This is on the FAA website, as davidjh mentioned. The file is several hundred pages long I beleive.

To get FAA designation you must live in the USA. Go to for info on the designee process

Nigel and All,

Does the same apply to Company DER application? This was not very clear to me (could not find a clear explanation on FAA page).

With one exception, the requirements for a consultant and company DER are the same. A company DER must be in a position where he can exercise his delegation authority without undue influence from other company members.

Luciano-

If you can get your company to sponsor you, that would be the quickest way to get your DER. Check out the websites as stated above.

Also see from 8100.8B section 307 a.

Then see
There should be a section on the DER Application Package.

If my company would sponsor me to be a DER, I'd do it in a heartbeat, the problem is there are already 2 here, so they don't see the necessity (and neither do I for that matter).
