Someone wants to monitor a hand held personal appliance (no, not one of those) for wear and proper function. Any suggestions?

Endevco 222 are the smallest I've found. Cheers

Here is one that is 5 grams and is .437 x .52 x .240 designed for adhesive mount. You need to consider what frequency range is required, what sensitivity, What is your power source, what is your signal conditioner, etc.

Feel free to contact directly at dgallagher@reliabilitydirect.com if you want to get into specifics.

The PCB 309A ICP accelerometer weighs 1 gram! Not very sensitive though, but smaller generally means less sensitive.

We use a PCB 352C23 for modal analysis of violins, which weighs only 0.2 grams. Again as MikeyP already mentioned, small means generally not very sensitive.
