In NX 7.5.5.4: When I extract an edge curve that was made from a conic curve or try to project it into a sketch it gives me a spline. I would like a conic curve. Any ideas or is it just the way it is. Can it be corrected in another version of NX.

I was able to Extract, AND Project into a Sketch, the edge of an extruded body that was created from a ellipse and the resulting curve, in both cases, was a Conic.

Can you provide at least a picture, if not the actual part file, showing what it is that you're attempting to do?

Its not a definitive truth that if the curve you use is a conic curve, that the resulting edge will be conic.
It depends on if the feature can do analytical shapes and if the circumstance allows an analytical shape or not. - Rather than the NX version.
If you use the Extrude body with a conic , the edge will most probably be a conic. But if you sweep a conic using the Swept Feature, the result will most probably be a spline or a tolerant curve since the swept feature is designed to interpolate "any shape".
NX is, in my perception, good at producing the simplest / cleanest type geometry( i.e Arcs, conics) when possible instead of using splines / B-surfaces everywhere.
