When you make threaded end, you need extra thickness like following example.

Nipple PBE(Plain Both End) Schedule 40S
Nipple TOE(Threaded One End) Schedule 80S

I am not sure if this is a best practice.
But I got the above spec. from a famous license company.
Do you know any code refernce related to this matter?

ASME B31.3 has Table 314.2.1 for specifying the minimum thickness of male threaded components (depends on fluid service and type of material), other codes may simply require that the minimum calculated pipe thickness is provided at the bottom of threads.
