Hi

Have anyone experienced designing an ASME vessel with unassigned material against external pressure? I am wandering which external pressure chart shall be used for unassigned material, especially LDX 2101. Please suggest.

What makes you think you can design an ASME stamped vessel without using an ASME approved material?

prasit,
LDX 2101 is standardised by ASTM/ASME. It is accepted as equivalent / exceeding the S32101. Refer to Outkumpu's website.

The vessel is not a stamped vessel. It is just design based on ASME Code. I know LDX 2101 is equivalent to S32101, however I can't find this material in the stress table. Thus, I have no idea which exteranl pressure chart shall be used for this material.

prasit,
I don't have at hand the code case 2418, that might help you, provided your Client agrees to it. Also, check out the post in the search box above, for this material and the code case 2418.
cheers,

A new one, I've been advised that Code Case 2418 allows 198 MPa design stress at 100 deg C. Sory, that's it, can't get more..

Use Figure HA-5 for external pressure per code case 2418.

Hi all

Thanks for all useful responses. That's really help.
