Hi all,

I am currently doing some investigatory work on various FEA options for some projects which are in their early stages. One particular project requires some FEA work to be performed however we do not have any licenses for such software at this time (this is a one off project so the costly purchase of such a package is not ideal if it can be avoided).

Instead I was investigating the possibilities that there are external companies out there who specialise in FEA solutions for situations such as this, so we create the required modeling to the required standard, explain our desires for the FEA and the results we are after and then contract someone to do the actual analysis work for us (at a far lesser cost than purchasing the program ourselves).

Firstly, do these possibilities exist? If so does anyone here know if there are any located in Australia or know who can be contacted to find more information regarding this request?

If not, are there any other possible (legal) solutions which would yield the desired results without the need to purchase the software ourselves?

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers,
Reece.

Yes, there are companies specializing in FEA for the aero world. We're in the US, but I'm sure some of the Aussie's on Eng-Tips can help you out. Of course, you can always operate via the web if you need a company that is out of the country.

Just out of interest, but I presume the OP is from oz, so why do you require the person to be from the same country? Is it because you'd require face to face contact?

It is not out of the question to consult with overseas firms, however issues with various engineering standards coming into play are something potentially concerning.

Would simply be a lot easier for a logistical point of view if there was an Australian based company providing these services.

Thanks for the replies thus far.

Cheers,
Reece.
