Hi

I am currently running a FEMAP model and exporting the forces of a shell model and running a CLT hand calculations to get the strains.
I want to compare these strains to the strains in FEMAP.
Do I compare them to the normal X and Y strains in FEMAP ?

if you are sure in which direction you have calculated you strains thats yours reference .make sure your material direction for you laminate elements is along ur calculated X strain. when yo uhave run your analysis and analysis parameter has strain requests ON, now you postprocess. in post processing , first check contour arrow view and make sure your normal X is along material direction (which ideally should be) . this will be compared with you normal X from ur CLcalc. and your Y is obviously 90 cloclwise to your X.
