Was wondering whether anyone can tell me whether there's any difference between an equipment that is marked EEx de and an equipment that is marked EEx ed?

IEC 60079-0, General Requirements ( states in section 29.3 that when multiple types of protection are used, the letters are to be listed alphabetically. If I recall, it used to be the primary type of protections was listed first. The European standard may be similar.
