I am running a dynamic model, but I obtain the following error when I apply a concerntrated load on a node, however I am obtaining the following error message:

The ratio of deformation speed to wave speed exceeds 1.000 in at least one element. I assume this element is related to the node I am applying the concerntrated load to.

When I apply a displacement to a number of nodes, this problem does not occur.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get around this? Thanks.

Any input would be much appreciated, thanks.

Point loading is generally a bad idea because of errors like this. That being said if you ramp the load it should probably converge better. I usually would model the indentor and apply a displacement load to the far side of the indentor. I hope this helps.

Thanks Rob,

Could you please expand a little on this, I am not sure what you mean by this. Thanks.
