Does anyone have experience with successfully finding High Temperature Hydrogen Attack in C-0.5Mo pipe inspection? API 941 states that high frequency shear wave and backscatter are recommended for detection of early stages of cracking. An expert has been telling me that inspection of pipe <1" in diameter with backscatter may not be effective. Any comments. I need to inspect some pipe operating above the carbon steel Nelson Curve and I need a legitimate inspection method. I'd prefer to use the API 941 guidelines.
