how to design /calculate expansion joint loop in furnace of fire tube boiler .
we have fire tube boiler in which Lithium bromide+ water solution is on shell side .The furnace is non corrugated .There is differential expansion between tube and furnace .
can we give expansion loop on furnace instead corrugations .how to size it
please help

BS 1113 gives information on the requirements for expansion joints in furnaces as does AS 1228. I cannot remember if ASME I does. What design standard is your boiler designed to? I may be able to help.

Dear jangada,
To design expansion joint you can use EJMA expansion joint manufacture associate.
Also you can use the ASME SEC VIII appendix 26.
