Ideally a solid pipe is best where reliabilty and degredation issues can be dealt with,saying that if it was required to flex or move with a load or other device a flexible joint would be my prefered choice, depending on fluid,application,pressure and immediate environment
expansion joints are preferred for SLIGHT lateral, axial, and angular motions or vibration isolation. Hoses can do the same except with not allowable axial movements. At 230 F, you may want PTFE over the elastomers.
in our case the client prefers to have flexible hose connection instead of expansion joint.
But flexible hose connot be modeled in caesar II programm ( beam thoery).
so I am mdeling at the point location as free end , with Axial anchor close and limit the operating lateral mvt to 3mm, and axial operating mvt 5 mm.
is it a good approach?
I will appreciate you do have other tips for modeling the flexible hose.

You will certainly shorten the expected life of a flexible hose if it will be expected to contract/expand axially. If you design the hose as a loop, so that axial movement opens/closes the loop, you can expect much better life.
