.exp file

Hi everybody,
My company received a file with .exp extension.
Can anybody tell me how to translate this to UG or any other program can open this this file.
Is this a type of catia file?

If I´m not misstaken it´s a catia V4 export file. I would recommend the software Cadverter from theorem solutions but it´s quite expensive so I would suggest you to get it converted from someone that has it, maybe your local EDS office. I think the less expensive way is to get back to .model (catia V4) and the convert it to a neutral format like IGES or STEP. (Check first that you can accept step)

Depending on what version of UG you have and what modules you have licensed, I believe that UG can open it directly.

Catia v5 should be able to open it as well....

You can open .exp file with any text editor. It is essentially a text file with name=value pairs that controls your UG model.

To use it you should load your *.prt file in UG. and check applications->Modeling. Then click Tools->Expressions. In there find an icon that says "Import". Now select your *.exp file and click OK. This should change your model according to the values in *.exp file. But make sure that you are using the right *.prt file with the correct *.exp file. Else you won't see any change in the model.
