exclusive or

Hi i have a task to build an exclusive or function using the minimum number of gates. I have found out that this can be acheived using 6 nmos & pmos gates.
i need a design of the cell structure for a VLSI circuit.
any help would be appreciated.

hi, 4 nand gates will give a xor function.

yes thats true but each nand gate consists of four transistors, giving a total of 16. my task is to find the minimum acheivable and I have already found a six gate one, i just need the cell structure diagram.

Try to find a datasheet giving the internal structure of some SSI XOR logic circuit like the 74HC86 or an xor of the 4000 series.
