Excluded Reference Set Error 1

Hello all

While i am working with a large assembly, i got the following issue.

I created the assy,saved it and closed the application.The next day, when i reopen it ,every parts have been loaded correctly,except two of the subassembly.

When i try to load it manually by checking the tick mark , i recieved an error - "The component cannot be made visible as it ia an excluded reference it"

Do i need to change any parameters of the child assembly or parent assembly to make it visible/loaded.

I have attached the error message here below.

Note:
I have checkout/modification rights only for the parent assy, i have to keep the child assy as reference only. I am not supposed to do any modifications in it.

Please help me.

Another reason for NOT creating Reference Sets in an Assembly file.

Open the main assembly and from the Assembly Navigator, select the Sub-assemblies and change their Reference Sets to 'Entire Part'.

Thanks John. It worked perfectly.

I think previously the reference set was model.

When i changed to entire part, it worked as you said. But i still don't know ,what is the difference between entire part and model reference sets. It would be grateful if you tell tell the difference between these two reference sets.

'Entire Part' is just that, everything, which in the case of an Assembly is generally only the Components. You have to keep in mind that Reference Sets are really 'filters'. Therefore, any Reference Set other than 'Entire Part' could 'filter-out' some items, in this case it did not include one or more Components which is why you got the error that you did.

Generally speaking, you should avoid creating References Sets in an Assembly, they should be used in detail parts only, filtering out all but the final body that you want to see when this part is added to an Assembly as a Component.
