In 123 I was able to establish the alignment of my text during data entry by using ' ^ " for left, center, and right aligned text.

I've looked through Excel help and didn't see anything like this.

Does anybody know if this exists in Excel?

Only ways I can see to do it are

1) to type in the codes as described then run a macro to check every cell, delete the code, and format it to suit.

2) assign a shortcut to the align button

Go to Tools/Options/Transition and check the Transition Navigation Keys checkbox.

That's just what I was looking for.

Thank you Joerd and a star for you!

Will excel allow left and right justified text in the same cell?

No, it's not a word processor.
You'll have to split the text into multiple cells.

Joerd
