Dear Forum,

API 510 advises in its 7.4.3. Paragraph - "Evaluation of pitting" how to perform pitting evaluation.

Are these pits anywhere in the vessel or they have some criteria location wise?

For example pits in shell - away from welds or any penetration - I guess they can be evaluated according to API 510.

What happens / How to evaluate internal pitting (metal loss) on welds?
What happens / How to evaluate internal pitting (metal loss) near nozzle penetration (either reinforced nozzle or now )?

Is there reference in any standard saying when to use for example weld repair or so called - cold repair (for example belzona?

Thank you so much

Hi,
I cannot help regarding the metallurgist phenomena.
For an engineering evaluation you may refer to ASME FFS, as stated also on API 510.
For repair activity you may check ASME PCC-2
